A common project among students in schools is to give a list of talented Filipinos who are considered "World Class" or someone who's made a name or famous around the world.
Lea Salonga : Born February 22, 1971), is a
Filipina singer and actress who starred in the lead role of Kim in the musical
Miss Saigon, for which she won the Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics and
Theatre World awards. Salonga is the first Filipino artist to be signed to an
international record label (having been signed to Atlantic Records in 1993).
She is also the first Philippine-based artist to have received a major album
release and distribution deal in the United States and one of the best-selling
Filipino artist of all time, having sold over five million copies of her albums
worldwide. She was the first Asian actress to play the roles of Éponine and
Fantine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway. She portrayed both roles on
the musical's 10th and 25th anniversary show in London respectively. She also
provided the singing voice of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in
Aladdin (1992), and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998) and Mulan II (2004). Salonga was
named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with The Walt Disney Company.

Decena :
A Filipina performer and club singer in U.K who landed a spot in the
semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent. She had captivated both judges and the
audience with her emotional renditions of popular love songs and her story,
which is common among overseas foreign workers. She was one of the few
non-Britons who made it to the semi-finals.
Charmaine Clarice Relucio

Born May 10, 1992, is a Filipina singer who rose to popularity through YouTube.
Dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as "the most talented girl in the world",she
released her first international studio album Charice in 2010. The album
entered the Billboard 200 at number-eight, making Charice the first Asian solo
singer in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart. She
released the single "Pyramid" which featured singer Iyaz. It is her
most successful single to-date, charting within the top 40 in a number of
countries, and debuting on The Oprah Winfrey Show where she sang live vocals.
Crossing over to acting on television, she joined the cast of TV series Glee as
Sunshine Corazon. She has released a new lead single, "Before It
Explodes", written by Bruno Mars, from her international sophomore studio
album, Infinity.
Arnel
Pineda :
Born on September 5, 1967 in the Philippines. After a series of unfortunate
events in his childhood, Pineda found success in Asia as the front man for the
group The Zoo. In 2007, he was discovered by Journey guitarist Neal Schon,
after a series of YouTube videos were posted of him covering American songs,
including the famous hit, "Dont Stop Believin'." In December 2007, Pineda
became the new lead singer American rock band of Journey. His is noted for
having a strikingly similar sound to former Journey front man Steve Perry.
Rose
"Osang" Fostanes : Born January 2, 1967 is a Filipina
caregiver and singer living in Israel, who won the first season of The X Factor
Israel. Fostanes attracted international attention in October 2013 when she
appeared as a contestant on X Factor Israel singing "This Is My Life"
by Shirley Bassey. Before appearing on X Factor, Fostanes was the lead vocalist
of a band that performs in a small bar in Neve Sha'anan, Tel Aviv. On November
23, 2013, Fostanes performed at a charity event, "Concert For A Cause For
Typhoon Yolanda" in Haifa, Israel, organized by the OFW in Israel
Organization. The event raised money for Typhoon Yolanda victims in the
Philippines. Due to the conditions of her visa, Fostanes was not able perform
for pay in Israel. This was changed on January 20, 2014 when she was granted
singing license in Israel.
These are just five of them and there is a lot more out there who's already famous and some who's rising to making a name.
